The impregnable jungles of India cradled a civilization all its own, many of them of in total isolation for aeons leading them to create their own culture and folklore, inspired by their experiences and the omnipotent forests around them. Art is a fundamental human need as seen by caves paintings from millennia ago all across the globe. Tribes in India have created masterpieces that are celebrated, some by pop-culture, such as Bhimbetka and some known only to discerning art lovers, such as Edakkal caves in the south.

The richness and variety of Folk and Tribal Art mirror the geographic and cultural diversity of India. Some of the well-known Folk and Tribal Art of India such as Madhubani Painting, Tanjore Art, Warli Painting, Patachitra Painting, Bhil Art, Miniature Art and more add to the rich tapestry of India and deserve to be patronized and preserved for the ages.

Today, organizations such as Must Art Gallery along with Kanha Museum of Life and Art are creating a platform for the rich tribal art form of India to be seen, known and celebrated, not only in India but across the world. Tulika Kedia, Director, Kanha Museum of Life and Art has dedicated her life to shining the limelight on these art forms and artists. One of the many endeavours towards achieving this is the “Many Indias” art exhibition. Currently, in its third edition, Many Indias III is a rare exhibition of indigenous art curated by Tulika Kedia and is on from 1st February 2020 until 31st March 2020 at Must Art Gallery, New Delhi.
