As the mighty Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meander through the mountains and valleys, restless to find each other and be joined into and reborn as the Ganga, a calmness is born into such a confluence. 14 km from Devprayag and 74 km from Rishikesh, Banyan by the Ganges consists of 12 well appointed swiss tent-cottages, each with 300 square feet of well thought out cosy spaces and accommodations. True to the landscape they exist in, the retreat has surprising nooks and corners at every bend which offer themselves unto you a relaxing and contemplative time. 6 of the cottages face the ever flowing, ever changing, yet unchanging river; the other 6 come with mountain views which seem constant like the Pole star. These comfortable living spaces are meant to relax you and yet at the same time motivate you to deeper thought and introspection. This duality of life comes through in everything you experience here. You could reach here by the way of Rishikesh and experience the bustling holy town or you could drive through the scenic Kotdwar road and be welcomed by the singing and chirping birds of the mountains. As you reach here, you will be stunned by the magnitude and majesty of nature, the high mountains, the gushing river, and be soothed by the warmth of the people and their pleasantness. The nightfall brings its own duality, with clear skies full of stars, always shining and the river banks which come alight with the fireflies dancing away their fleeting lives, yet you will be hard pressed to make a choice among the two, for their beauties and scales, are different and yet the same.
